Shardul is from Auckland, New Zealand and has been playing Martin Doyle's wooden flutes since 2001. He specialises in playing the meditative music of spiritual teacher and musician Sri Chinmoy and has been a member of the Sri Chinmoy Centre since 1984. Sri Chinmoy's music expresses both the dynamic and gentler aspects of the spiritual or 'inner' realms and Shardul finds that Martin's flutes are perfectly suited to both modes - as with the Irish traditional music modes of the faster rhythmic tunes and slow airs. Shardul has a love for meditation and also the outdoors - especially quiet unpopulated places where nature predominates. He also has a fondness for service and self-offering in every day life.
